EDITED*
Modeling for Bonitochico (BC), Nov/Dec 2008.
One very good gauge is the pictures when I modeled for BC since 3 years ago.
And goodness, check out those arms, thighs!!
Every single time I see the above picture or so,
It makes me feel that I somehow look like the kim sam soon girl in the Korean drama: my name is kim sam soon
Not sure if it’s a good thing or not but the role was about her being plump but she found her prince at the end. :p
Well, this shows that we should just be ourselves and if we want to lose weight, it should be because of health and ourselves too.
not because we want to get guys!
Anyway, I think why I feel that way is due to the similar looking hair style and the plumpness,
Modeling for Bonitochico (BC), October 2009
A large leap, about a year, but I’m still plump!! Funny thing is we always don’t think so then,
and thought it was fine, not that plump (lol) but in fact when we look back, we go like “wah,
to think I thought my hairstyle was quite nice back then,
or to think that I don’t think im THAT fat tt time (though we know somehow or another, we did put on weight)”
2009 with the love, bonito girls! <3 see how much we all have changed.
November 2009.
Then I got a haircut of a style I really wanted to try and…. It made me look rounder. ☹
December 2009, phuket. gosh, look at that hair!
thank goodness for Salon Vim now.
December 2009, selene’s 21st.
January 2010, here’s the pretty kaykay!
January 2010, still went for countless buffets!
March, 2010. getting plump ☹
May 2010 at brunch.
Modeling for LB, September 2010
October 2010, one of the “PEAK”periods!! @#$@
November 2010.
December 2010, got a new hair cut/colour, slightly..just slightly smaller size..
December 2010, Christmas..
February 2011, valentines day.
march 2011, getting slightly better..
May 2011, did some exercise every now and then too to keep healthy, and lose weight heathily..
August 2011, krabi.. maybe I was subconsciously losing weight so that I can wear bikini nicely in krabi!! :p
September 2011, lost a bit of weight I realized.
Sept/October 2011,quite recent
I suppose I did lose a bit of weight huh..
If I were to put the pictures all together, it’s kinda apparent I must say.
But i think most importantly, it's not just about wanting to lose weight,
but it's more of being healthy, wanting to look healthy and hence, eat in moderation for all,
or having regular meals and less snacking.
WHEN I WAS PLUMP
If I really have to think back on how did i start becoming plump,
it would be the constant feasting of fastfood, fried food or high sugar level food - desserts etc.
I suppose I didn't eat in moderation but quite frequent instead.
And to think back, I did go for runs every now and then, and when I was plump,
it does take a toll on me! Recalled that I had quite a bit of trouble running,
even for just a short distance (about 5-10 minutes)- took a long while to regain back my normal breathing and had slight breathing difficulties.
I’m quite shocked to know that too since I used to run like 3-4 times a week back in poly days?
Besides that, I hate to admit that after just climbing one flight of stairs, I panted pretty heavily for a while. ;(
A bit disgraceful I know, then I will try my best to get back the normal breathing asap in case anyone talks to me and realized that heavy breathing – just because of a flight of stairs?
HOW DID I LOSE WEIGHT
I thought about how did I lose weight, and to think back now, I somehow got it all figured out exactly.
Definitely not something new, but because I personally experienced it, the level of understanding towards these two simple aspects is tremendous!
1. DIET
2. FITNESS/EXCERISE
Though there are a bunch of people who dislike exercising or are loaded with work, and as much as you want to exercise,
there is no energy left at the end of the day for exercising. (well, time is managed by us so I won’t say no time to exercise).
I suppose I can comprehend this point, and in my personal very frank opinion, DIET is the utmost main factor on how you can control /lose your weight.
OH GOODNESS…
Truth to be told, there were many a time I was asking female friends on how did they lose weight, what is their daily diet like etc.
And I came to realize there were a couple of friends (names will not be mentioned!) who do take slimming products to control the weight in fact.
It’s was pretty scary to know of that, cuz I have been quite skeptical about slimming products all along.
True enough, I went to read up on articles/ forums and review about some of those products,
and there are even websites that are selling them at DISCOUNTED price online?!!
Not just that, there were so many incidents around about people having side effects/ severe health consequences after taking those products or so,.
And statistics even show:
over 50% of medicines purchased online from illegal sites are counterfeit or substandard,
1 MILLION illegal medicines were confiscated in 2010, and 694 websites were engaged in illegal activity in 2010.
DON’T RISK FOR THIS..
I know a friend who rely on slimming products (though yes, she lost quite a bit of weight over a short time frame),
then curious me went to ask her in-depth about her weight-loss ways.
I was in disbelief when she showed me a website (shall not mention the name of the site) selling the different kind of brands for slimming products and ITS CHEAP!!
Way cheaper than I thought.
But she mentioned to me she does get severe headaches,
sometimes puking and total loss of appetite for the period she consumed the slimming products,
and she thought she was just feeling ill for a while, but it prolonged only to realize its cuz she was consuming the pills.
Of course, we all still want the health and she stopped immediately after consulting the doctor cuz like what I though-
The pills are not recognized appropriately, must be really dangerous.
How dubious it can be…. Do you really think there is such good thing in life??
To me, NO, there is no free lunch in the world, and everything must be worked for.
Even if there are times when I received some good stuff randomly,
those will be times when I will just consider myself lucky and be very contented cum thankful that I got to received that.
Well, and I would just constitute the discounted price of slimming products to reasons like the products having undeclared potent & harmful substances or a lack of care in mixing the prescription in the products.
Cuz afterall, those brand-less websites just want to earn money and get our business,
so even what if I became slim but have like health problems?
How can I seriously enjoy my life. No way am I going to risk my health like that.
READ IT HERE and you will know the dangers!
THE BEST WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT
As much as I know that I was putting on quite an amount of weight back then, I got pretty terrified by those articles about people having problems after consuming slimming products.
So then I decided to go the BEST AND SAFEST WAY, get a good healthy diet and do exercise from time to time.
Yes I know, easier said to be done, when im a foodie. But each time I lack of motivation to do exercise when I have the chance to etc, I’ll think of this fact:
“ I EXERCISE TO EAT”
Well, there’s cure for foodies!! EAT whatever you want, but exercise to eat, think of the results after- you can freely eat what you want in moderation, but exercise!
Of course for those who not just want to maintain but lose weight, diet should be controlled too, and try to cut down on sweet stuff and fried stuff, like bubbletea, desserts or fast food.
At the same time, it's important to note that, everything should be eaten in moderation,
it might not do anything to your weight or so, but it might affect the internal body system, which might result in other problems..
You have heard it many times just like me, but simple logic yet holding so much truth in it.

Congratulations to daddykins, am proud to attend the Investiture of the 2011 national day awards at UCC@NUS,
whereby daddykins will be presented with an award by Singapore's current president, Tony Tan.
Dress code was formal, so here am I decked in LB's black dress,
and spicing it up with a bit of colours by holding along a sweet pink ruched clutch from Princessess,
adore the classy design of the clutch and it looks better in real life to be honest!
Mummykins & Daddykins, looking all pretty and suave.
With Mr Tony Tan.

Went out one evening, donned in my own lacey top together with a rich orange colour flare long skirt from ,
I always have a thing for skirts like this cuz it's so easy to wear and very comfortable to move around as well.
I actually feel myself having a tad of hair loss problem, and went to consult a hair care specialist last week for the first time.
Hopefully it will help in some ways..
More of myself in oh! poupée's preppy colour skirt, and carrying another of my versatile bag from Princessess!
This bag from Princessess came in a gorgeous rose shade, and it goes well with most of my outfits in fact.
Have been frequently using this since i received it, and it can store a lot of things at the same time, eg. my wallet, DSLR, etc!
Last but not least,
here's another outift of the week!
A greenish chiffon dress from that brightens up my day with its bright cum chirpy shade!
Definitely something i would wear it out for a weekend brunch with girlfriends <3

When you were skinner(now)=) Did u find urself having more suitors?
ah.. nah didn’t take note of that, but i was attached midway then!
i suppose it’s not all about weight or looks, just have to be ourselves and strive to be a better person day by day!
hi bea! I just finished my Alevels a few hours ago! woohooooo!!!! RMB ME?
Just dropping by to tell you YOU ARENT FAT! I’ve read ur blogposts for years and that thought never even went tru my head before! I was still thinking, “wah she eat so much and still so skinny siolllll!” HAHA! I think it’s more of baby fats right!
Anyway your advice is so true!
YAY EXERCISE AND EAT HAPPILY!
heyo! thanks for reading!!
i wouldnt think its FAT, fat, haha but it’s more like i felt that i;m going towards the plump side, and if i don’t control, it will get out of hand.
Plus not just getting bigger side, but it’s eating in moderation! let’s strive towards a healthier diet!
hi beatrice (:
nice to read this encouraging post from you!
would like to know if you did join any gyms for your exercises?
and how many times do you workout per week?
thanks for your time to answer these questions!
hi dear, i hope it is! cuz i would really want to keep fit albeit wanting to slim down. and yup i join true yoga for its yoga & dance classes
would try to go at least once a week or more.
since when you fat/plump/chubby/pudgy/etcetc..?! i want to slap you ok!
MS JAYNE! hahaha not fat, got a lil bigger than usual and it will go out of hand if i dont control! anyway, have fun at the tea party!
what is your exercise routine like?
ohw frequent do you jog etc? and how long?
I am focusing on more the yoga side for now, it’s unlimited lessons for yoga & dance classes at the same place, would at least go once a week, but trying to go at least 2-3 times a week! other than that, i cut down on unhealthy stuff, eat in moderation!
I can’t tell the difference if you never blog about it!
but you really lost a lot of weight. Now you’re making me think if I’m plump or not. Lol!
haha claire! haha don’t be silly!! don’t think u are plump but be it or not, lets eat healthy from now onwards and not buy anything dubious from online!
While I understand your rationale behind this post and the way you went about doing it, I have to disagree with some of the things you said. Yes, I agree that exercise is the way to go when one wants to lose weight, it is the healthiest way. However, I have to disagree with the first half of the post. I understand that you’re simply trying to emphasise the amount of weight (inches) you lost by exercising, however, by drawing attention to the “problematic” areas in a manner as such sends the wrong message to your younger, more easily influenced and highly impressionable readers. Especially since we know that many teenage girls struggle with weight issues and low self-esteem.
When they see someone they look up to (in this case, it’s you!) criticise their weight and “problematic areas” on a public domain, they tend to look in the mirror and make similar comparisons. Especially since you’re rather high profile since BC/LB broke onto the local online shopping scene. Many of us have followed you since you first started modelling for BC and without a doubt, you exert a larger influence on many of us than you realise. When younger readers look at you, they think “wow! You’re a model, you’re gorgeous and yet you’re not happy with the way you look?! What more us mere mortals!” (exaggerated for emphasis, but you get the point). Thus, I would suggest a different approach to the whole issue.
I applaud your intention of sending a positive message of a correct and healthy weight loss method, however, I’m afraid that many of your readers will not make it to the second half of the post. They might end up getting too depressed and demoralised after the first half, whatever’s left of their self esteem shattered to bits because their role model thinks she used to be fat in the past when she was of a healthy weight.
The world does not need more anorexic models or people who think that they’re fat or were fat even when they’re or were at a healthy weight and looked healthy instead of being stick thin with no curves whatsoever.
This is who you were created to be, embrace it!
hi dear,
thanks for letting me know, though this post has totally no intention to draw intention to the “inches” and areas as what you might have gotten the impression of.
Yes i can see that you got the right message for the second part – about not going to the extend of buying dubious products from online.
But for the first part, it’s more of sharing that i do have my times on experiencing getting plump like just any other person (but Not because my metabolism is high or whatsoever hence i can always blog about good food yet not having people asking why am i not getting fat, but truth is i’m just like others, I will if i don’t eat in moderation), and what kind of difficulties (eg. breathing difficulties) do i face which i understand some people might face the same issues as me.
Besides that, i was hoping if one knows that I truly experienced it and can relate to them on this, then it would be really true on what i have mentioned- exercise, trying to eat healthier or eat in moderation, and not risking/trusting un-certified slimming products online. Especially the last one, (don’t trust unrecognized pdts online), cuz that the most risky one i urge people not to even try, and the more one thinks that she/he is getting plump/fatter, girls especially might resort to different ways to get slim in the fastest span of time.
Well but i do get where are you coming from, and i am embracing it no matter what in fact or what come may. But weight & health is a thing that needs effort, and not just eating whatever, cuz even if one doesn’t grow fat, the health (inside the body system) will sure experience a toll regardless. Never am i trying to be anorexic at all, to me, i don’t think that is attractive even if i’m so called doing modelling at times.
i used to be of a healthy weight but it got out of hand for a while due to constant eating of fried food, snacks and desserts, but it’s not trying to just slim down, but to know that i should eat healthy. And definitely there is a part of me that i want to slim down just like all girls, hence that part of me makes me exercise every now and then, so as when i eat in moderation, i can still sin slightly more and eat a bit more of food that i like (like fries, desserts etc im a sweet tooth!). heh
Your post is so hilarious, the part where u are not afraid to make fun of yourself being plump (kept laughing non stop).
I admire your courage and modesty, a truly wonderful role model for the younger generation babe.
heh i do have my times! im just any other person!! )
hi beatrice, its comforting (to me, at least) that despite being a popular and pretty model/blogger, you are still human and very much girly like all of your readers out there. I really appreciate your down-to-earth character and it’s apparent through your blog’s content. I’ve been reading your blog over the past months, checking back almost everyday, and yes you did lose weight! Can see it through your slimmer and toner legs. (:
Continue to bring such posts in abt beauty/food/ fashion/ life. It makes you very much relatable, like a friend in cyberspace.
<3
thank you dear! glad that you got the right msg just like what i wanted to put across and i do sincerely want to relate to cyberfriends like yourself, hoping to know that albeit the external opportunities that I am thankful that i got to experience, i am just like any other person, and what I can is to share as much as i can, even the opportunities! thank you for the encouragement, i’ll strive harder!
Hi Beatrice! Congrats for losing weight and regaining such a nice figure! after looking thru e pics, i think beside just losing some weight, u are getting more and more gorgeous?!?!!:)
With all the good food surrounding us i guess its pretty inevitable that we may gain a bit of weight at some point of our life…
I’m currently trying to lose some weight as well now but of cos, thru the hard way by controlling my diet and exercising when time permits!:) could u share with people like me what’s your diet like now and whats your exercise regime currently??
thanks in advance beatrice! let’s persevere on to continue losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle!:D
it must be the make up! haha
and yes i totally feel you, i always see good food around and my resistance level is very low in fact, so i have to make up to my sins by trying to cut down on them for the next few days if i happened to eat it today, something similar to that!
and for my diet, i hope to share! but now im doing something new, im jotting down all my meals and every single thing i eat everyday, and when time comes, i’ll see if i lose weight or gain weight, and share my diet out in the blog to identify what is the main cause/food and how to improve! Cuz it’s really hard to take note of what we are eating since we are living in a food hub!
for exercising, im doing yoga once a week, just started not long ago, so im trying to monitor if it really helps me! will share it in due time too.
lest persevere like you said, and strive to a healthier lifestyle!
Hey Beatrice, been an avid reader. Please do recommend your hair specialist if you found it to be useful! Have been experiencing it in a mild way too and I don’t know what to do and I’m younger than you (
yeah i just consulted them only and am still in the first stage of trying! let me see if it works and i’ll share it if it does k! what is your issue with your hair? mine is hair loss/dropping.
Same here! Kind of feel like I have got a hair loss problem too! So sad ):
And you seriously LOST WEIGHT man!
Never realised until you created this post.
Quite some difference, in fact!
By the way, love the fact that you model for Love, Bonito!
Because I think I’m about the same size as you, or maybe slightly more meaty (haha, this sounds kind of funny!) at the limbs. (But I don’t have assets like you lah!)
I can easily gauge from there!
Thanks for blogging! Love the way you are! ^^
hahah, thank you dear! nah don’t think i have the assets!! :p
and oh yeah i think i might be the average size, so really really hope to be of a good gauge to girls!
Yay! thank you!
Yes yes!! Please do recommend your hair specialist! I need some professional advice as well :/:/ but kinda afraid. Let us know if it works!! I have the same issue as you:(:(
yes dear! as i mentioned below, i just started and let me try to see if it works! will share in due time )
wow, narcisissm beyond belief!
Hey nice wedge u r wearin in the outfit for the red skirt. Whr ya gt it?
hi dear, got it from brunei last time!
hello beatrice!
just wanted to say that i’ve also always been going with the same rule of exercising so i can eat more freely :p
the food temptation is just too huge for me and i enjoy food tasting alot!!
not that the sole motivation behind exercising is just so that i can eat more but i guess it really helps..
and i think the feeling after exercising is quite fulfilling.
wanted to ask you how much/long do you exercise each time? (i assumed you’re talking about jogging)
because during my holidays i tried to run each weekend for about 2-3months straight and i ended up with more muscular legs which seems to make me look more plump than when i didnt exercise much (lol)
not sure if i ran too much! haha i just did about at least 2.4km, to about 4km maximum at my own casual relaxing pace.
with regards to your hair, i suffer the same problem too!
and i get what you mean, the hair loss is not drastic to the extent of having obvious bald spots but i probably lose more nearer to the areas of my hairline.
what i did was to change my hair parting from time to time and put on hair tonic.
since you visit salon vim maybe you can ask them about it?
to put it simply, i think you can refer to hair tonics as ‘fertilizers’ for hair growth.
the results is not fantastic but i do see some growth and i think the impt thing is to apply it regularly..
and lastly, i know that sleeping at the right hours help to lessen hair loss too.
all the stress and insufficient rest do aggravate the situation.
do let us know if you do know of any other more effective hair treatments/solutions!
thanks babe!
hi dear! i think i got the same problem as you too, muscular legs cuz i used to run quite a bit, like almost 4 times a week.
but nowadays i kinda try various exercises, and for running, what I learned from my friends who are runners yet have really thin legs is that,
run long distance, but slow. as slow as it seems like it’s running but not walking. heh if you get what i mean!
and for the hair, yeah we have to change partings every now and then, but i find it so hard to change, like its so weird to have my fringe on the other side.
I tried scalp treatment that works pretty well at Salon Vim, but I saw a promotion on hair care at beijing 101, and i actually went to try it to further improve my hair loss(hopefully!), but i just started so results are not visible yet, will share in due time!
sleeping habits sure do play a part, am trying to sleep as early as 11pm, hopefully i can manage to finish my work for the day!
and i think i do have quite a bit of stress, probably thats why as well.
also, i might be taking in too much salt, my friends/family commented that i take really salty food.
so in overall, it might be my diet and sleep!
will def share in due time babe! thanks for your comment!
Hi Bea, I never thought you were plump but I guess the main reason why I really like it when you model for LB and stuffs it’s because of the confidence you exudes. Which is what makes you or girls in general beautiful. Confident for who you are and how you look like. Not forgetting comfortable.
hi dear, i agree with you! its always the confidence no matter its who, some people might not look really pretty pretty, but the confidence exudes from her will make her look even more attractive than others!
And you are too kind! im really flattered but i just sincerely hope i can be a good gauge for you girls when it comes to buying clothes online, and def i hope to wear it nice! ))
you are right too, we just have to be ourselves!
Hello Beatrice, have been reading your blog for quite a while! I am also going towards the plump side and I am hoping to get more toned. ): Hahah there is a nice park near my house but I just don’t get the motivation to go out and run! And yes, I don’t understand how this could be so since I was from a sports CCA last time. So contradicting!! Anyway, I like how you emphasize on healthy diet and exercise! I really hope I can do that too hahah.
hello! haha yes! i also can’t pin point why i used to run a lot but nowadays i just simply can’t get the motivation or momentum to run! i suppose it’s all in the mind, and let’s keep reminding ourselves that we should if we wanna stay healthy!
Hi Beatrice!
Can I check with you which hair specialist are you consulting currrently? As I face hair loss problem too…and i have also been to a few hair specialist (or should i say hair salons?)…can email me if you dont wanna reveal the name in public! thanks alot babe!
hi dear! no prob as i mentioned below to another reader that I saw a promotion on hair care at beijing 101, and i actually went to try it to help improve my hair loss (hopefully!), but i just started so results are not visible yet, will share in due time!
Thanks for sharing Beatrice! I had been waiting for this post all these while don’t bother replying to that narcissism comment btw, just delete it!
There was such a drastic change from October 2010 to February 2011. Congrats on your successful weight loss! I don’t think you looked plump at the start (year 08/09), but at your “peak period” as you had called it, it was a bit out of hand.
You look gorgeous and happy regardless of weight! glad you’re feeling fitter too. All the best!
haha yes it was really kinda out of hand huh! when i flipped through a book at bonito with my pictures, goodness, it was so apparent!
Hi Beatrice!
I’ve been a regular reader of yr blog for the past 2 years and to be honest, I never noticed your weight gain! But it’s still nice to know that you’ve lost weight and become so much healthier now
I’d think that you’d have gained weight after getting tgtr with your boyf? For myself I gained ~10kg in the first year I got tgtr with my guy. So hard to get back on track to eating healthy and exercising regularly tbh!
Anyway, I’ve also lost a couple of kilograms myself this year through exercise and dieting and am feeling so much fitter now! *beams* Lets work hard to keep fit & healthy aight!
haha you might be right dear!!! hahah, oh dear, 10 kg?!! lets really work hard and be healthy! i don’t want to look bigger than my guy! hehe
hi beatrice, don’t let negative comments get you down. actually i don’t think you are plump. maybe you just became more toned in terms of muscular definition.
i think you have a good figure (even when you considered yourself a little bigger) and all the clothes you wear fit you really well. i think that in fact, sometimes the clothes look better on you than on the original blogshop model. totally agree with the comment that you getting more gorgeous! i think sometimes you remind me of korean star! (you look like suzy of miss A)
anyway can you share whether the hair specialist is a medical doctor or the non-western medicine kind?
yeah i think its the muscular part! i used to run and go gym!! and it was toned but after i stopped, it all became soft and flabby.
and thank you! you really made my day and im so so flattered.
For my hair specialist, its beijing101! haha didnt expect to enter it but i did! am still at the initial stage, so i’ll share in due time!
Hi Bea! Sometimes I really feel like snacking and will resort to unhealthy stuff – sweets, chips etc. Any tips for this? It’s really hard to resist as I’ll feel hungry in between meals!
Btw, do keep us updated if the hair care really works! Recently I’ve been dropping multiple strands of hair from the same follicle (can tell ’cause a few strands are stuck together) and it’s really depressing It’s really obvious that the hair is thinning so it will be great if you have something good to share! Thanks!
yeah totally!! me too!!!
my tip would be:
1. DONT buy any tidbits to put around you. (my house doesnt have tidbits most of the times, so i walk to and fro, there is just nth to eat! haha)
2. if you really need to munch something, get like fruits, or dried fruits to replace chips, heh, or cereal. (i suppose its the desserts/sweets/chips that are quite sinful!!)
and for the hair, yes! i got the same problem too, must be the snacking then!! am trying to cut down on that. (im a great fan of junks like chips!!).
will share in due time if it works!
